It is a terrible intrusion to your privacy when you receive these calls.
There are some simple ways to take back some control to your home life.
- Firstly in a calm manner, state that you are not interested and ask for them to take your number of their dialling system. All UK companies must comply with this request due to the UK legislation.
- Register with the Telephone Preference Service this is a free service and will reduce the amount of marketing/sales calls you may receive from companies within the UK. www.tpsonline.org.uk
- Register with Silent Callgard this again is a free service and helps reduce the amount of silent calls that are made from call centres within the UK. www.silentguard.co.uk
- If you receive calls from companies that ask you to confirm any personal details do not give them any. Ask for them to write to you. Any genuine company will be happy to do so. DO NOT give out any bank details unless you have dealt with them before.
- Try to make a note of any phone numbers left by using the 1471 service. You can log these numbers with www.junkcallers.com
